IMA participates in the 8th edition of the Accelera el Creixement program

Ingeniería Mágnetica Aplicada (IMA), a leading company in the magnetism sector in Spain and with more than 30 years of experience, provides the best magnetic solutions and is in continuous innovation, this being one of the strategic objectives of the company.

Currently, IMA is developing a research program, innovating in & nbsp; magnetic products and applications, which allow it to maintain its position among the best companies in the sector worldwide.

This year, IMA participates in the 8th edition of the Accelerate Creixement, public-private collaboration between the Diputació de Barcelona and PIMEC.

A project that helps to promote business development and identifies the different medium and long-term growth opportunities of the participating companies. Companies draw up a personalized and tailored growth and action plan.

IMA will actively participate for 9 months with the program to improve performance and execute the new proposals, together with a team of professionals in the different areas of business management.

This program will encourage IMA to bet and improve even more in aspects related to technological innovation, new lines of products and services marketed, optimizing the internationalization process, among other factors of success for the Business Growth.

All the lines of action that the Accelera el Creixement program contributes to IMA, will be focused on increasing the market share in Europe, the efficiency in the manufacturing process and improvements in the orientation to customer satisfaction, consolidating IMA as a benchmark company in the magnetism sector.

IMA participates in the PASSENGER project, helping to make Europe a more sustainable and ecological place

The complexity of having raw materials in a sustainable way in Europe is a major challenge since rare earths are highly polluting elements and necessary to be able to manufacture permanent magnets. These allow us applications of great importance such as: sustainable transport, electric cars, the aerospace sector, wind turbines... The PASSENGER project will allow us to obtain knowledge of the recycling these magnets, investigating possible processes that allow us to regenerate new possibilities of raw material. Because of this importance we attach to permanent magnets today, the Passenger project will produce possible alternatives and innovative technologies in Europe.

The Passenger project is developed with a total of 20 partners, including research leaders, European associations and industries that are dedicated to the manufacture of permanent magnets, such as us, Ingeniería Magnética Aplicada.

Our role in the project is the participation in several work packages and also the leadership of the WP2 work package, which will allow us to use our injection machines for the realization of new qualities of magnets injected with the "new dust created", in the same way as the reuse of unused magnet dust.

IMA, like other companies, will get a contribution to the intentions of the green pact of zero emissions and clean urban transport.

The PASSENGER project is a 4-year (2021-2025) program of climate action, environment, resource efficiency and imported raw materials. Coordinatedby the Madrid Institute IMDEA Nanoscience (Advance Studies in Nanoscience),it has been founded and funded by the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme of the European Commission.

The aim of this project is tocreate a method that will allow usto replace permanent magnets. Thishas led to the creation of eight innovative activities with different materials, which will cover the value chain and introduce electromobility. Electromobility has become a key sector of driving with these areas: e-scooters, electric bikes, motorbikes, and electric cars. Other activities included in this project are e-standardization, life cycle analysis (LCA) and life cycle cost analysis (LCC).  Also lto recyclability and life cycle assessment in the social environment of the products and technologies used by this project.

The activities are based on the research and technological development produced by previous projects supported with the EuropeanUnion.

The association of companies that came together to be part of this project cover different disciplines.

The selected companies are from different countries of the European Union, involving industries and associations that focus on the manufacture of permanent magnets and covering different disciplines.

IMA arrives at Mars with perseverance

The Perseverance robot lands on Mars with IMA technology inside.

NASA is in command of this interplanetary mission and today, 02/18/2021, it has been completed after almost 7 months, at a speed of 23,000km/h and after a journey of 480 million km.

This mission consists of studying the surface of Mars to look for signs of microbial life hidden among the rocks of the planet, in order to bring them to Earth in the future.

How does IMA help complete the Perseverance mission on Mars?

The Perseverance robot has neodymium rings manufactured by IMA integrated around the lens of the Supercam. Its main function is to repel any type of dirt or magnetic dust so lens always remains clean and thus gives the most accurate data possible.

Its main objective is to discover if the planet Mars has any kind of life. It is essential to study the terrain and it will be possible thanks to the technology of the Supercam. It has a small laser beam built into the top whose purpose is to vaporize small parts of the elements found on Mars in plasma form.

This high-performance team will be in charge of photographing, filming, revealing chemical composition analysis of the environment as well as its mineralogy to know if there are or have been microorganisms. Considering that it is a planet similar to a great desert and that the temperatures are very different from those of the earth, the mission will be extremely complicated.

IMA is proud to have been part of this milestone in the history of mankind, which places it as a supplier to the most important aerospace companies in the world.
